Castle Law Legislation
Each state is responsible for its own
castle law
legislation and the only way to make sure you are protected is for you to know the laws in your state.
Are you required to verbally announce your intentions of defending your home by a "duty to retreat" clause or are you allowed to simply "stand your ground?"
Does your state provide protection from further action from survivors?
These are just a few questions you will need to know the answers to before you are put in a situation where you need to defend yourself.
You can find your states law by using the
Google Search Engine
and entering "Texas Legislation", for example. The states official site was one of the first in the results on my attempt. You should be able to utilize a search engine on the state site to find the laws reference number and then print out the text of the law in order to become more familiar with it.
Since that seemed like a lot of work, I decided to create one place a person can go and find information on the castle laws around the nation.
Just find your state in the NavBar on the left and click. Find the name of your state on the responding page and click to go directly to the latest available text of your states law.
I also wanted to provide those citizens, who enjoy living in a state that protects the right to defend personal property and freedoms, a place to purchase home security
yard signs
and automotive window
decals
that announce that you are protected and have the legal right and ability to defend your home or vehicle.
